The Bach Chamber Choir, Munich and the Simplicissimus Chamber Ensemble Conductor: Félix Mayer

2019. August 29.

The Bach Chamber Choir of the world-famous Münchener Bach Chor keeps  touring the world with its enthusiastically received Bach, Händel and Mozart programs, but every summer they traditionally return to rehearse and play concerts with their Hungarian friends in Dörgicse. The chamber choir camp where they meet is lead by Felix Mayer, a dominant figure of the musical world both as a conductor and music historian. He was a member of the Gächinger Kantorei when that famous choir recorded all the Bach cantatas and oratorios under the baton of Helmut Rilling. As a conductor, he worked with the Munich Philharmonics, Lorin Maazel and Valery Gergiev.

Hstoric performance has been the basic approach for both the Bach Chamber Choir and the Simplicissimus Chamber Orchestra.  Simplicissimus, lead by Zsombor Németh strives at more than simply restoring the sound and the style of performance of the given period, they want the music they perform to cause as much revelation as they did at the time they were composed.
